McArthur Ranch
McArthur Ranch is located on rolling acreage with unobstructed views of the Rocky Mountains. The layout of the single-story home features an arrangement of barn-shaped volumes, each designed to extend the living spaces from indoors to out.
The residence is intended to honor the simple proportions and materials of neighboring barns and farmhouses, while pursuing a contemporary aesthetic through the use of expansive glazing and clean lines.

The timber-framed gable roof peak juts above the low slung wood-clad front entry volume. Glass windows infill the gable end wall on both sides, providing a glimpse through the home to the mountains beyond.
An operable sliding barn door allows the owners to conceal view into the home when they are away.
Crisp white walls provide a contemporary living experience, offseting the rustic solid timber trusses overhead and the barnwood flooring underfoot.
The base of the building reveals itself as your circle around the stone walkways on the property. Full-bed handcut limestone was used to embed the home into the terrain, while the upper portion of the building is clad with an open-joint rainscreen system and standing-seam metal roof.
